Northmathr Vikings have strong armor and you can buy them any time. Those huskarls or whatever take ages and battles to upgrade and they will most likely die before they can even upgrade.
champions, huskarls, body guards but they are extremly hard to get and troops from tavers like frank horseman, sver warriors and veterans can face them pretty well. The best troops in this game are the Norse Saxon etc.
They are pretty weak and you waste a lot of party morale.
